Deprecated Feedback Forum

This is a deprecated feature request forum for GitLab CE/EE/CI features. As you can now vote on issues in GitLab, we’re moving the feature requests to the same project as we’re doing development in. This should make the step from request to development smaller and faster.

GitLab CE & CI feature requests

To submit a feature request for GitLab CE (including CI), please search and vote for or create an issue in the GitLab-CE project on GitLab.com: https://gitlab.com/gitlab-org/gitlab-ce/issues

GitLab EE feature requests

To submit a feature request for GitLab EE, please search and vote for or create an issue in the GitLab EE project on GitLab.com: https://gitlab.com/gitlab-org/gitlab-ee/issues

I don’t see my feature request on GitLab.com

If you don’t see your feature request on GitLab.com, feel free to create an issue on the issue tracker in the appropriate project and place a comment here to link it for everyone. Alternatively, most popular feature requests will have their issue linked from here in time.

I suggest you ...

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".
(thinking…)

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

If a similar idea already exists, you can support and comment on it.

If it doesn't exist, you can post your idea so others can support it.

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

    • Merge strategy: cherry-pick

It would be nice to use cherry-pick as a merge strategy for merge requests. Using cherry-pick merge commits can be avoided. Especially for merge requests that consist of a simple single commit it is uncomfortable to have merge commit being generated each time.

      • Enable Mathjax support in the Gollum wikis

Gollum has built-in support for rendering mathematical formulas using Mathjax, but it looks like it's disabled in the Gitlab Wikis. I suggest enabling it; it would make the wikis great for scientifical-ish repos.

        • Team-/groupwide RSS feeds

It would be great to have RSS feeds for all events in a team or a group. A filter for commits, merge requests, comments, etc. would be a plus :-)

          • provide composer package repository support

GitLab HQ should be more readily usable as a Composer package repository solution. By building this as a project service (akin to Hipchat or CI integration), projects can "opt-in" to be included in a generated packages.json manifest file.

I have successfully built the core of this functionality into our install of GitLab HQ CE 6.7.5 and would like to make it available to the GitLab community.

Ability to easy create Wiki pages with WYSIWYG editor, like confluence do.
+ would be great to have ability to download Wiki page as PDF/Doc/etc.

                        • Allow to invite or add user by mail

It's difficult to Convince someone to change its habits (svn, github, dev tools). By adding someone to a group/project by its mail, we don't have to wait until he subscribes.

                          • Customizable Tab Width in Diffs

Currently, the tab width in GitLab's diffs is 8 spaces. In my opinion this is a little much. GitLab should have a way to change tab widths.

(Note: See http://www.w3.org/TR/css3-text/#tab-size for a simple way of implementing this.)

                            • Add "File Finder" fuzzy input in "Files" tab to jump to file (e.g. 't' in Github, Cmd+P in Sublime, Cmd+T in TextMate)

In Github, if you hit 't' on the file list, it displays and focuses a text input, you can begin typing part of a files name to immediately jump to that file. For example, if you wanted to open spec/models/user_spec.rb, you could type "spmous" and it matches [sp]ec/[mo]dels/[us]er_spec.rb. This is similar to how Cmd+P works in Sublime, Cmd+T in Textmate, Ctrl+P vim plugin, etc.

                              • Add sync function to sync forked repository with the original repository

After I fork a project, I need to sync with the original repository if the original repository has new commits. So I can get update from the original repository. Github and bitbucket provide this feature on their web interface. With gitlab, I will have to first add the original repository to my local machine using git remote add, then fetch from that remote, merge with local repository and then push to my forked version on the server. Can we add a feature like what github and bitbucket have to help make this process easier? I am not very familiar with…

                                  • Ability to configure sidekiq concurrency

It would be nice to have some way to configure the concurrency of sidekiq.

By default sidekiq starts up with 25 threads. I'm running gitlab on a memory constrained, low-traffic VPS. This is surely overkill. I can currently override this by changing the command-line in the sidekiq.rake task and adding -c 5 (or whatever number) It would be nice if this could be added to the config file though so it would get carried through deploys. Details on command line options for sidekiq can be seen here: https://github.com/mperham/sidekiq/wiki/Advanced-Options

It would be helpful to see a representation of the languages used in a repository. Attached is a screenshot from Github.

                                      • Allow group-level deployment keys.

This feature request it's two folded:

                                        a) Either improve the UI for assigning the same deployment key to several projects at once, or to several groups.

                                        b) Decoupling the from a single project.

In buildout projects is common to have several dozens of projects being deployed to staging servers in order to test integration between all components.

Having to manually assign the same deployment key to each project is teadious. Allowing to have group-level keys would be very useful in this cases. Alternatively, the UI for the assignment of the same deployment key to several projects is also a solution…

                                        • enable code search in multiple projects

It should be possible to do code search among all project or a project group. This would be very useful to find for example whether a deprecated symbol is still used.
